Ive always used a tube peep sight, never even really thought about it, notice less noise at the shot and a few more fps with a tubeless peep.

I am changing to a tubeless peep when my tube is too short. Is it your tube or the actual peep sight itself?

As I have only used the peep with the tube, I am a bit reluctant to try a tubeless type. I have heard that the tubeless have a smaller hole. Helping.

tube vs tubeless peep sight

If you have to use a tube use silicone. I've tried the best of strings including winners choice and while they don't rotate much, eventually they need to be adjusted. Also shoot a recurve and a longbow fellows with no sights on either. The rubber tubing is an easy "set it and forget it" solution. From: x-man. And on the peep stem, I lube it with a little spit before I slide it on, which when dried, acts as a cheap glue to keep it from slipping off. Does not really help you if you are shooting with fingers. Guys that uses loops on their string with their release are careful about how it is tied on so that it rotates the string just right so that it helps with string rotation for their peep. I can shoot with out the tubing, but with it it lines up right every time. Takes up zero space, yet can make or break a hunt. He had shot that bow several hundred times without fail but the 98 degree day changed everything. I agree with the others. I tried gluing and tying and other adjustments. Register here to reply to this topic.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} Davy There is a difference between putting rubber on a string in place to absorb vibration and intentionally snapping a rubber hose. I say upgraded because I was tired of my rubber tube drying out and breaking. Its cheap if you buy it in bulk and just cut it into 1 foot sections and replace it before the hunting season. Rubber works for me, but I also keep a spare back up in my pack. Can anyone give me a name brand to try? From: Scott. The stuff is clear thin and tough as nails. Works every time. From: Driver. Use a Hind Sight and you won't need the tubing or even the peep. Whats the best peep sight tubing. Where guys get it trouble is by using too short of a piece, which can put unequal pressure on the string. Ive seen some friends that had just a peep served into a good quality string, and all of the sudden, they cant see a thing through their peep. Thanks for not answering my question. If it breaks don't reatach it , replace it, or the shorter tube will put a different tension on the string. From: Canuck. From: BowhuntingTiger. I had my peep changed today and had a loop put on my string. From: Double Lung. It's available at Cabela's among other places. Look into it. I'm tired of people bashing the rubber tubing. From: TJS. Silicone by far, I do have some friends that still use it and that's what they insist on. From: Hoythews Dont feel too bad HoytShooter I still use the rubber tubing, and I swear by it! From: midwest work. I know there is alot of people that shoot tube-less, but it is hard for me to change something that I started with and has not really let me down. From: camoman Gibbs archery has some amazing peep tubing. All knew the answer ya'll gave.. Silicone tubing will last longer. Best there is! I will say though, I do carry an extra length of rubber tubing into the woods with me in my backpack. So, before you tell someone to lose the tubing, ask them how they shoot and why and they probably have a well thought out reason. I could get a whole season out of silicone when i still used tubing. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Bou'bound Apr Purdue Apr Scott Apr BowhuntingTiger Apr The Sentinel Apr TJS Apr Driver Apr Canuck Apr Davy C Apr Hoythews71 Apr Double Lung Apr From: hoytshooter. Yes I really said it. I had used rubber tubing since I started shooting, but have now upgraded to silicone. They last me a season, but have a change ready if I see it drying out. I would rather shoot my recurve with no sight s or peeps etc. Fool proof if you ask me! He went back to the "pro" shop and threw the worthless peep back the the "pro". I have not had that problem since I switched. People still use tubes on their peeps??? Keep on rocking that tube. Silicon slips off my peep. You have to tie the same knott used on string loops and make it extra tight. To answer the original question, silicone lasts over twice as long. I FEEL like a man now Thanks to everyone that did answer my original question. From: Purdue. He put his old peep back on and hasn't had a problem since. I have had guys at the proshops say lose the tubing, but I will stick with what I use. Not silly, just wrong in this case. Don't knock people for what they shoot would be my advice to the ones that knock people that use rubber or silicon tubing on their compounds. It only slows my arrow by about fps and acts as string silencer. I used one for 25 years and ditched it last year. All I sell is the silicon tubing. Hope that helps. Try a peep aligner worked great for me. But I also am shooting with fingers, so I think the rubber tubing helps a lot with any rotation. They also tell me to lose the finger shooting also, but I am not going to change that. From: The Sentinel. A lot to be said for that. From: Bou'bound. From: twojump. I guess attaching a piece of rubber to the string to quiet it down is kind of a silly notion. From: Davy C. Is rubber better than silicone or silicone better? It is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Went back to rubber.
